Iceland has reopened the country's borders to tourists from June 15, 2020. When Iceland first opened in June, passengers arriving into Iceland had a choice: They either choose to be tested for Covid upon arrival (15000 ISK/ $110 USD) or to go into quarantine for two weeks. Now as of August 19th, the entry requirements have changed, due to a surge in cases. We cover all the updates below.

Minister for Sports and Tourism, Pipat Ratchakitprakan, has announced that Thailand’s tourism is close until the second quarter of next year. This means that other tourist visas, such as e-Visa and visa-on-arrival, apart from the new TR and STV visa will still be on hold for now. This move thwarted the hopes of a turnaround in the tourism industry for the 2020/2021 high season.

One interesting detail about Nicaragua reopening for tourism is the fact that they never truly closed in the first place. During the height of the pandemic when many other nations sealed their borders, the government of Nicaragua never issued a decree to fully close, very similar to the route Mexico took.
