Namibia is open to international travel – and it’s never been cheaper or quieter
International travel might currently feel like one of life’s forgotten luxuries, but you wouldn’t know it at Windhoek’s teeming Hosea Kutako International Airport early on a Monday morning. A packed EuroWings plane, delayed by two hours, has flown in directly from Frankfurt. The delay means its arrival clashes with that of a smaller, but also full, Airlink flight from Cape Town.
Thailand general tourism closed until March 2021
Minister for Sports and Tourism, Pipat Ratchakitprakan, has announced that Thailand’s tourism is close until the second quarter of next year. This means that other tourist visas, such as e-Visa and visa-on-arrival, apart from the new TR and STV visa will still be on hold for now. This move thwarted the hopes of a turnaround in the tourism industry for the 2020/2021 high season.
The Latest: Sri Lanka reopens tourism after 10-month closing
Sri Lanka is welcoming tourists again after keeping the doors closed to visitors for nearly 10 months due to the coronavirus pandemic. The government’s action Thursday is seen as an effort to revive the island nation’s tourism industry, which has been badly hit by the pandemic. Tourism accounts for about 5% of Sri Lanka’s economy and before the pandemic employed 250,000 people directly and up to 3 million indirectly.
